Terms of service–Permanent and Pensionable
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Animal health extension services such as disease surveillance, treatment and vaccinations;
- Perform veterinary field extension services that include farm visits, barazas and field days;
- Maintain mature and professional team work with his / her team;
- Advice on good veterinary practices;
- Undertake meat inspection of animals slaughtered for human consumption;
- Participate in staff meetings and workshops related to veterinary services, food security and livelihoods as directed by the Sub-County Veterinary Officer or County Director of Veterinary Service;
- Do periodic veterinary activity report to Sub-County Veterinary Officer;
- Any other duty assigned by Sub-County Veterinary Officer or the County Director of Veterinary Service;
- enforcing slaughterhouse hygiene, meat transport regulations and inspection of retail outlets of foods of animal origin.
Requirements for appointment
- Kenyan Citizen;
- Bachelor Degree in Animal health and production from a recognized institute;
- Be registered by Kenya Veterinary Board (K.V.B.) or be a member of a relevant professional association;
- Knowledge in riding a motorbike and having a valid license will be an added advantage;
- Reliable, mature, with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and work as a team member;
- Ready to work for long hours including weekends and holidays;
- Computer literate;
- Two years’ experience relevant to the position
- Satisfy the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity.
