Assistant Clinical Officer at South Eastern Kenya University

Duties and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:

• Examining, diagnosing and treating outpatients in the health unit at the University in order to make proper diagnosis and provide curative intervention.
• Advising patients on all prevention measures against diseases in order to reduce morbidity and mortality.
• Organizing and participating in practical health education and immunization as well as family planning clinics in order to provide awareness and uptake of immunization and reproductive health services.
• Responsible for health unit supplies and liaise with other sections for procurement in order to avoid stock outs.
• Collecting medical data that will help in health services planning.
• Undertaking administrative responsibilities in conjunction with the Head of Department in order to improve provision of clinical services.
• Advising and issuing diet and sick leave certificates on direction of Head of Department to provide quick recovery.
• Responsible in conjunction with Head of Department for mobilizing Health of staff in case of epidemic and health emergencies.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Medical Officer in-charge.

Person Specification

For appointment to this grade, one must:

• Have Diploma in Clinical Medicine its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Have at least four(4) years relevant working experience.
• Be registered with Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
• Be computer proficient and conversant with ERP system.
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
