Assistant Director - Renewable Energy at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:

• served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Principal Renewable Energy Officer, CSG 8;
• a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Energy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
• demonstrated a high degree of professional competence in Renewable Energy technologies and systems, and administrative ability as reflected in work performance and results

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• planning, developing and coordinating renewable energy programmes;
• appraising biomass energy technologies
• coordinating energy efficiency and conservation programmes;
• identifying and planning feasibility studies to be undertaken on harnessing
• of renewable energy resources;
• coordinating information packaging and biomass technology transfer activities;
• supporting private sector participation in production; distribution and
• marketing of renewable energy technologies.;
• participate in the development of standards for renewable energy technologies, equipment, devices and material;
• plan and implement outreach programmes;
• plan, develop and coordinate collaborative research activities;
• participate in energy policy formulation;
• participate in preparation of departmental budget, work plan and procurement plans; and
• The officer will be responsible for staff development, supervision and reporting
