Overview

• We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager – Insurance to support the management of our insurance operations and client portfolio.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for policy administration, renewals, claims coordination, client servicing, insurer relationships and business development. The role requires a hands-on professional with practical experience in the insurance industry and a strong understanding of the brokerage and agency environment.
• The ideal candidate should be customer-focused, commercially minded and able to manage insurance processes independently while working closely with the Managing Director and the wider team.

Job description

Insurance Operations:

• Manage insurance policy administration and renewals.
• Coordinate underwriting and claims processes.

Client Relationship Management:

• Maintain strong relationships with clients and insurers.
• Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly.

Business Development:

• Identify opportunities for new business and portfolio growth.
• Develop strategies to increase insurance sales.

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company policies.
• Monitor operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.

Team Supervision:

• Supervise and mentor insurance staff.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and training.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare operational and performance reports.
• Analyse insurance trends and business performance. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in the insurance industry.
• Experience working in an insurance brokerage or insurance agency is a MUST.
• Practical experience in policy administration, renewals, claims coordination and client servicing.
• Experience in insurance sales or business development is an added advantage.
• Good understanding of the Kenyan insurance industry and regulatory requirements.
• Professional insurance certification such as ACII, COP, IIK or equivalent is an added advantage.
