Remuneration and Benefits
- Basic Salary Scale: KShs. 69,766 – KShs. 90,695 P.M.;
- House Allowance: KShs. 28,000 P.M.
- Commuter Allowance: KShs. 7,000 P.M.
- Annual Leave Allowance: KShs.8,500 P.A.
- Medical Cover and Other Allowances: As provided by KMFRI
- Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
Job Specifications
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail assisting in:
- Identifying research problem with stakeholders;
- Prioritizing research problems for implementation;
- Developing research concepts;
- Identifying relevant literature material;
- Collecting of data in the field;
- Data Analysis;
- Writing appropriate technical reports including research notes, technical notes, conference posters, dissemination flyers;
- Organizing and implementing dissemination activities that include Open days, ASK shows;
- Disseminating research findings in local fora that include seminar, workshops, congress;
- Mentor students on attachment, interns and visitors including High School and Colleges;
- Implementing relevant ISO standards in their departments;
- Compiling departmental quarterly and annual reports;
Persons Specification
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Upper second-class Bachelor’s Honors degree or equivalent degree in any of the following fields: Aquatic or Fisheries Sciences, Biological or Physical Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Environmental studies, Geology, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Marine engineering, Biometrics, Biotechnology; or any other aquatic, fisheries and other relevant disciplines from a recognized University.
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ (Plus) or equivalent; and
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Meets the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution

- Ability to work under pressure.
