    Assistant Trainer, Online Pedagogy

    Reporting to the Lead, Online Pedagogy. The holder of this position will support in key responsibilities that include; review partner curriculum and content, collaborate with partners in contextualization of content and pedagogical approaches as well as Coordinating facilitation activities with other trainers.

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    • Oversee training activities of individual cohorts.
    • Provide post-grad support to program scholars. Coordinate facilitation activities and mentor trainees through the program.
    • Review completed modules and facilitate submission of completed modules
    • Support Lead, Online Pedagogy to;
      • Review partner resources for content and curriculum for Online Pedagogy.
      • Collaboratively contextualize learning material for delivery to institutions in the network.
      • To facilitate training sessions in areas related to Online Pedagogy and mentor peers to do the same at home institutions on a train-the-trainer knowledge transfer model.
      • Oversee program Monitoring and Evaluation activities

    Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:

    • Master’s degree in content area or other related field aligned with the responsibilities of the position.
    • 5 years’ experience in instruction at University level in both traditional face-to-face, and online delivery methodologies
    • At least 5 years developing online curriculum, courses, and assessment tools.
    • Highly preferred;
      • Faculty training experience
      • International experience, especially in the African continent or willing to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

    Personal Attributes & Competencies:

    • Proficient in multiple Learning Management Systems
    • Strong practical technical skills in a wide variety of online technologies including but not limited to Mac, Windows, and mobile device operating systems; various academic software; various media development software,
    • Sound Knowledge of the teaching, learning, pedagogy, and faculty development.
    • Understanding of the use of LMS’s and other software and innovative technologies used in a fully online academic environment.
    • Willingness to troubleshoot problems and discover solutions to solving those problems.
    • A skillful team player with demonstrated ability to work closely and carefully with faculty, the IT team and other members of the USIU-Africa community to maintain an atmosphere of courtesy, professionalism and strong service.
    • Experience working in higher education in support of faculty.
    • Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English with the sophistication necessary to effectively communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical individuals.
    • Demonstrated willingness and ability to carry out the essential responsibilities listed with humility, grace, and optimism.
    • Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse and inclusive nature of a distinguished higher education environment.
