    Associate Legal Counsel

    Job Purpose Statement

    The Associate Legal Counsel role is the perfect opportunity for a passionate and driven individual who wants to immerse himself or herself in the exciting world of Fintech. You'll be responsible for providing legal advice, managing regulatory matters and contract management, all while supporting Loop DFS and its local and regional subsidiaries. This is a chance to work closely with our experienced legal team, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the legal and regulatory aspects of a fast-paced and ever-evolving Fintech business. As an Associate Legal Counsel, you'll report to the Head of Legal, Compliance and Regulatory, and gain hands-on experience in the legal and regulatory aspects of the Fintech industry.     Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide support on regulatory projects for the approval and licensing for the business and liaison with relevant regulators;
    • Review and drafting of commercial contracts and other documentation covering software development, vendor and partner agreements, MOUs, marketing and others
    • Provide legal support, advisory and guidance to the business on a wide range of issues such as data protection, regulatory compliance, and managing the implementation of relevant changes as required by the business;
    • Provide support in identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks that may affect the business;
    • Managing legal documentation;
    • Remaining up to date on relevant laws and regulations relevant to Loop DFS business.
    • Conducting relevant Legal Research
    • Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time

    Minimum Qualifications

    Academic:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLfrom an accredited institution;
    • Admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya (minimum 3 years post admission);
    • Certifications in Data Privacy or other Fintech related fields will be an added advantage

    Professional:

    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

    Desired work experience:

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a top tier law firm, or legal department of a busy organization, FinTech organisation or a technology company, with some exposure to:
    • Contract life cycle management, including negotiation, review, drafting and filing
    • Development of sound legal advisory
    • Experience or knowledge in Fintech and/or financial services
