Backend Developer at She Code Africa

About the Role

• We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to support the development of She Code Africa's platforms. If you are passionate about writing efficient and scalable code while contributing to a mission-driven organization, this role is for you. You will help build and maintain robust backend systems that power our web and mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs
• Manage backend technical support for the Summit website
• Work with databases, authentication, and server-side logic
• Optimize application performance and scalability
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration
• Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks
• Opportunity to mentor or facilitate She Code Africa programs (optional but encouraged)

Requirements

• Experience with backend programming languages like Node.js and Python
• Familiarity with databases (SQL, MongoDB, Firebase, etc.)
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and authentication mechanisms
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Passionate about supporting the growth of women and girls in tech and committed to giving back through volunteering
