    Biodiversity Intern

    • As a Biodiversity Intern at Victory Farms, you will play a vital role in supporting our commitment to sustainable aquaculture practices. Reporting to the Farm Operations Director, you will assist in various projects aimed at enhancing and preserving the biodiversity of our aquatic environment. This internship offers you a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in biodiversity conservation within the context of a dynamic and innovative aquaculture enterprise.

    Your primary responsibilities will be:

    • Assist in conducting biodiversity assessments to identify and monitor aquatic species present in the farm's ecosystem.
    • Collect and analyze data related to water quality, species distribution, and environmental conditions.
    • Support the development and implementation of biodiversity enhancement initiatives, including habitat restoration and conservation programs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate biodiversity considerations into aquaculture operations and decision-making.
    • Assist in the documentation of research findings and contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations.
    • Participate in outreach and education activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation.
    • Perform any other duty as assigned by the Farm Operations Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

    • A degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    • Passion for biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.
    • Basic understanding of aquatic ecosystems, species identification, and ecological principles.
    • Knowledge of indigenous trees and fish strongly preferred.
    • Strong observational and data collection skills.
    • Ability to write grant applications and engage with external parties an added advantage.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Flexibility to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
