    Business Development Executive - Law Firm

    JOB PROFILE

    • The Business Development Executive (BDE) will support the Managing Partner, Heads of Practice Groups (HOPs), Associates, Pupils, Interns and Personal Assistants in all aspects of their business development responsibilities and has overall responsibility for the direction of all business growth and marketing functions of the Firm. The BDE will effectively and efficiently manage the business growth and marketing activities for the Firm, to the greatest extent possible, reduce this burden from the HOPs, Lawyers and
    • non-legal staff who are involved in business development. She/he will be responsible for increasing revenue, developing, and executing the marketing strategies and assisting legal and non-legal staff involved in Business Development in acquiring new clients while maintaining a good rapport with the existing clients. 

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning

    • Provide strategic direction about all marketing, business development and communications activities  
    • Develop, define and disseminate clear positioning and messaging for the Firm’s practice groups  
    • Review and supervise the implementation of the Business Development strategy to ensure alignment with the Firm’s overall objectives

    Profile Raising

    • Team with Associates and HOPs to market the services and expertise of the Firm through the development and deployment of thought leadership content and other profile-raising activities.
    • Manage practice groups’ awards and league table rankings, including oversight of submission to Chambers. Global and other high-profile publications, assist associates and partners in articulating key messages for directory submissions and share best practices in the submission process  
    • Work with the Knowledge Management Committee to develop client and Market-facing knowledge-based marketing tools and materials- handbooks, market know-how, technical updates, training programs and seminars etc.

    Client Development

    • Identify new and follow-up business opportunities for the firm.  
    • Generate leads and liaise with Advocates & HOPs to pitch for the provision of legal services to prospective clients  
    • Evaluate the strategic and core client database and propose the best business strategy for increased business  
    • Maintain a good working relationship with the old and new clients  
    • Identify, analyze complex client relationship issues and problems, and recommend and implement solutions 
    • Collect, monitor feedback, and maintain a high degree of client satisfaction.

    Analysis and Research

    • Monitor, Analyze and communicate market, industry and competitive trends for the Firm and Practice Groups

    Marketing/Communications

    • Feed the Firm's website with marketing information.  
    • Represent the Firm, along with the Managing Partner and other Partners, in dealings with its clients or any other related organizations.  
    • Proactively liaise with HOPs and Associates to promote and market the Firms’ areas of practice.  
    • Assist in meeting potential business clients to discuss clients’ needs and or conduct presentations.

    Management and Coordination

    • Oversee the preparation of the marketing budget for the firm and present it to the Partnership for approval and after that continuously monitor and manage the firm’s approved marketing budget throughout the year.  
    • Review marketing programs and recommend to the Managing Partner and Partnership Board and manage or improve the existing programs

    Reporting

    • Generating planned and ad hoc departmental reports and statistics weekly and monthly.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Business, Law, Commerce or Finance related field
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience in new business development and client management
    • A good and sound knowledge of marketing principles, able to build and support an excellent firm brand name.  
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, people management at senior levels and willingness and ability to work under pressure.  
    • Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking
    • Can function independently and successfully in a business environment with multiple/changing priorities and demands.  
    • Understand the unique challenges of professional services firms  
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills not only with clients but also with Advocates and support staff  
    • Excellent command of English
    • Should possess excellent research as well as computer skills  
    • Focused on performance and results  
    • Self-starter with a high degree of resourcefulness requiring minimal supervision
    • Contributor to the team's attention to detail and accuracy  
    • Maintain confidentiality Ability to communicate recommendations and proposals clearly and effectively to the Managing Partner
