    Call for Board Members

    Youth Alive! Kenya (Y.A.K) is a youth-led and youth-serving organization that works to empower young people and their communities to realize a just, equitable, and sustainable society. We amplify youth voices, strengthen grassroots youth organizations, and influence policies and practices that advance gender equality, inclusive governance, economic empowerment, climate justice, and the recognition of care work.

    We are seeking dynamic, committed, and visionary leaders to join our Board of Directors to guide Y.A.K’s mission and growth. This is a voluntary, non-remunerated role.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide governance, strategic direction, and oversight of Y.A.K’s mission, programs, and finances.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory, donor, and organizational requirements.
    • Support fundraising and resource mobilization by leveraging networks, partnerships, and opportunities.
    • Act as an ambassador for Y.A.K in relevant spaces locally, regionally, and globally.
    • Participate actively in quarterly Board meetings and committee work.
    • Serve as a mentor and resource to the Y.A.K team.

    Profiles We Are Seeking

    We welcome applicants under 45 years old, both Kenyan and non-Kenyan nationals, with expertise in one or more of the following priority areas:

    High Priority Areas:

    • Fundraising & Resource Mobilization (including philanthropy and donor engagement)
    • Governance, Policy & Human Rights
    • Youth Empowerment & Social Innovation
    • Law & Compliance
    • Digital technologies and innovation.
    • Climate adaptation and resilience

    Desirable Areas:

    • Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment (including care economy and SRHR)
    • Finance & Audit
    • Communications, Media & Advocacy
    • Organizational Development & Leadership

    We particularly encourage applications from individuals with regional or global networks and experience, as Y.A.K strengthens its transnational partnerships.
