    Capacity Building Manager (Adult Learning Specialist)

    The poster holder will be an adult learning specialist whose role will be to deliver on the Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA) capacity building commitments of the Humanitarian Capacity Building Group (HCBG) work plan and in line with priorities set by the Cash & Market Humanitarian Technical Working Group (HTWG). The main areas of work will be mapping CVA competency requirements in all relevant functional areas; identifying CVA capacity needs in priority Country Offices across several regions; designing and project-managing capacity strengthening interventions (including face to face, online and simulation trainings); and providing post-training learning support. This will be done in collaboration with Technical Advisors (Cash, sectors, and key functional areas) within the Cash & Market HTWG.

Save the Children UK has a long tradition of commitment to building the skills and capability of humanitarians worldwide in order that humanitarian responses are well staffed and fulfil the needs required, especially at national and regional level.

    As part of the wider Humanitarian department, the Humanitarian Capacity Building team focuses on building the capacity of humanitarians through a wide range of innovative professional development programmes. The team manage and implement a range of initiatives intended to build global surge capacity, develop talent at all levels, and provide professional training opportunities for national staff. The team consists of staff based both in the UK and Kenya, with small teams in Jordan and Bangladesh.

    Save the Children seeks to build its capacity to implement quality Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) throughout the movement to support its ability to respond rapidly to disasters but also to use CVA as a modality to deliver its recovery and long term programming, alone or in combination with other interventions.


    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    Essential

    • Proven knowledge of different learning pathways, and applications of competency frameworks
    • Experience in developing detailed plans for training / skills development, including identification of detailed cost structures and required support structures
    • Field level experience of working with NGOs and/or UN
    • Technically experienced in Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA), through either policy or practice
    • Experience in developing new capacity building programmes, including overseeing writing of content
    • A good understanding of monitoring and evaluating approaches and methodologies
    • Knowledge and direct experience of people development approaches and excellent facilitation and training skills
    • Strong report writing skills and research experience related to the use of cash based programming.
    • Field experience in a humanitarian programme and broad understanding of humanitarian issues, international relations and the international humanitarian system
    • Relevant Cash Learning Partnership trainer qualification

    Contract duration: 1 year
