Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

• Initiate, prepare and monitor the implementation of County and local physical development plans;
• Prepare action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates and recreational facilities;
• Provide advice to. Government and private agencies on development proposals and plans;
• Implement and provide feedback on physical planning guidelines and standards;
• Undertake thematic regional studies on matters relating to physical planning;
• Manage physical planning data;
• Set agenda and convene physical planning liaison committee meetings;
• Keep records of deliberations and communicate the decisions of the physical planning liaison committee;
• Provide advice on development control;
• Carry out public education on physical planning matters;
• Prepare annual state of physical planning reports on county and local physical development plans; and

Any other duty assigned.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must: -

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Urban and Regional
• Planning; Urban Planning or Town Planning from a recognized institution;
• Be registered by the Planners Registration Board;
• Experience of not less than 5 years in the public or private sector;
• Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of
• Kenya (Town Planning Chapter);
• Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
