For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Senior Superintending Geologist (Energy), CSG 8;
a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Geology, Engineering Geology, Physics, Geophysics, Geochemistry Environmental Geology or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
registration by Geologists Registration Board (GRB) and valid membership of Geological Society of Kenya (GSK); and
demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will include:
monitoring and reviewing geological exploration activities in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;
coordinating the design of geo-exploration field projects in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;
developing geological exploration standards and guidelines in geo-energy sector;
reviewing geological exploration reports;
verifying exploration contract documents for compliance;
monitoring conformity to legislation and statutes related to geological exploration
activities in geo-energy sector;
ensuring implementation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment recommendations for geo-energy sector projects; and
