Chief Superintending Geologist - Geological at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

• For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
• served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Senior Superintending Geologist (Energy), CSG 8;
• a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Geology, Engineering Geology, Physics, Geophysics, Geochemistry Environmental Geology or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
• registration by Geologists Registration Board (GRB) and valid membership of Geological Society of Kenya (GSK); and
• demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• monitoring and reviewing geological exploration activities in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;
• coordinating the design of geo-exploration field projects in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;
• developing geological exploration standards and guidelines in geo-energy sector;
• reviewing geological exploration reports;
• verifying exploration contract documents for compliance;
• monitoring conformity to legislation and statutes related to geological exploration
• activities in geo-energy sector;
• ensuring implementation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment recommendations for geo-energy sector projects; and
• ensuring proper management of resources.
