Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, laboratories, washrooms, sinks, hallways, and other areas of the school in a timely manner;
• Dust and wipe down surfaces including desks, chairs, windows, and whiteboards;
• Sweep and mop floors to maintain a clean and tidy environment at all times;
• Empty trash cans/ dustbins and dispose of waste appropriately in the designated area and replace the bin liners;
• Clean and stock restrooms with necessary supplies e.g. soap dispensers, paper towels;
• Follow cleaning procedures and protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment;
• Maintain cleaning equipment and report any damage or maintenance needs;
• Monitor and maintain supplies of cleaning materials and report when stock is running low;
• Notify the supervisor of any damages, repairs or maintenance needed in their assigned area;
• Maintain a clean and organized supply closet and janitorial room;
• Assist with the setup and clean-up of school events area and activities;
• Attend training and development sessions to improve job skills and knowledge;
• Handle cleaning chemicals and materials safely and in accordance with procedures;
• Follow all health and safety procedures and guidelines;
• Direct and assist the young students at all times while in the washroom; and
• Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications

• KCSE Certificate
• At least 1 year of experience in a cleaning role, preferably in a school environment.
