Clinical Instructor at Catholic University of Eastern Africa

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a related field (Upper Second Class) from a recognized University
• Have at least three (3) years working experience in a similar position

Job Responsibilities

• Assess clinical education needs and patient/client teaching needs and utilizing a variety of methods
• Coordinating the educational field trips for the student nurses
• Demonstrate patient care in the clinical units of hospitals
• Identifies resource needs in the Nursing Skills Lab and submits to the Coordinator
• In liaison with the Coordinator Attachments maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
• Instructing /teaching student nurses on patient care
• Instructing students in the principles and applications of biological and psychological subjects related to nursing
• Keeping abreast of development in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues and participating in conferences, seminars, courses and workshops
• Liaising with the head of departments in the health institutions regarding students practicals
• Offering support to the student nurses while encouraging them with classroom work in order to perform well in the clinical setting
• Preparing clinical setting in the University Nursing Skills Lab
• Preparing the student’s clinical placement schedules
• Supervise student’s clinical work
• Working in collaboration with nursing lecturers in the skills lab
