    Communication, Advocacy & Social Media Administrator

    JOB PROFILE

    • The position will be located in the National office for the coordination of communication and advocacy work in the organization. The officer will report to the CEO and will be providing leadership in advocacy and communication, developing and implementing advocacy and communications strategy, and coordinating and managing several advocacy projects in the organization. This is a project-specific position in the organization. The individual will also be in charge of all the organisation’s social media platforms and will be proactive in creating and maintaining a strong online presence for APDK. His/Her role will be to implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts. As a Social media coordinator, you will develop original content and suggest creative ways to attract more customers and promote our brand. Ultimately, this role seeks to increase web traffic and customer engagement metrics aligned with broader marketing strategies.

    Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Manage relationships with the general public, media, development partners, NGOs and APDK stakeholders
    • Lead in writing to and appreciating APDK donors 
    • Develop social media strategies and content for continuous sharing and visibility of the organization. 
    • Write monthly newsletters, write exceptional stories to share through social media sites. Invite stakeholders (employees) to contribute through relevant articles 
    • Participate in the preparation of website content and handling of social media platforms. Stay abreast on the website upgrade timelines
    • Lead APDK’s communication work including social media and traditional media (website, Twitter, newsletters, YouTube). Create content to keep APDK’s audience updated
    • Participate in implementing APDK advocacy and communication strategies for advertising
    • Assist in preparing for events and activities by developing and assembling information and necessary materials
    • Track and report on communication impacts and online analytics
    • Develop regular briefs for the APDK Network of senior management and mid-level management of emerging issues, trends, and developments worldwide in the area of physical disability and inclusion
    • Liaise with various potential donors and other stakeholders to inform them of APDK’s interventions, establish visibility, and identify funding and partnership opportunities. This will be done in consultation with the line manager.
    • Identify and propose potential partners, monitor, analyze, and report on donor policies and potential areas of funding
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with all staff members, project partners, and contacts outside the network;
    • Take a critical role in designing and distributing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, promotion materials to clients and relevant stakeholders
    • At different times, support with any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time

    Professional Requirements

    • Proven relevant work experience as a Communications advocacy and social media manager
    • Must be a tech savvy
    • Be a professional who honors ethics related to communication and a high sense of accountability and integrity
    • Must be a team player who brings people together through advocacy and communication
    • A high level of creativity is required; writing, speaking and problem solving
    • A quick learner and flexible to change

    Academic Qualifications

    • A diploma in Communication, Public Relations or any other related field from a recognized university. A degree in the same field will be an added advantage
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position
    • Sufficient ICT knowledge - servers, cloud technologies, digital communication apps, website, mobile apps etc
