    Communications and Outreach Consultant – Bebbo Parenting Programme, GPD,Early Childhood Development (ECD),8 Months, COE Nairobi (Remote, International)

    How can you make a difference?

    • The purpose of this assignment is therefore to provide dedicated, deliverable-based communications and outreach support to the Bebbo Parenting Programme. The consultant will plan and manage the push notification cycle, manage user feedback channels, support Country Offices with communications and outreach planning and content localization, produce newsletters and outreach and visibility products, contribute to communications quality assurance and MERL activities, and document and share good practices and lessons across participating countries.
    • Under the supervision of the Contract Manager, and in close collaboration with the Bebbo central team and participating Country Offices, the consultant will deliver the following five workstreams.

    • User engagement through push notifications
    • User feedback management and communications quality assurance
    • Visibility, outreach and newsletters
    • Country Office support, content adaptation and knowledge management
    • Communications support to monitoring, evaluation, research and learning

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

    Minimum requirements:

    • Education: Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, economics, digital media, social or behavioural sciences, international relations, development studies, political science, public policy, public administration, regional or area studies, sociology, cultural or media studies, business administration, or another field relevant to the assignment.
    • A first-level university degree in a relevant field, combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

    Work Experience:

    • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in digital communications, social marketing and content creation.
    • At least three (3) years of that experience providing communications support to parenting, early childhood, health or comparable programmes, or to consumer-facing digital products or mobile applications.
    • Demonstrated experience designing, drafting and managing push notification, CRM or lifecycle messaging campaigns, including scheduling and performance monitoring.
    • Demonstrated experience producing newsletters and outreach and visibility materials for institutional audiences.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple country or field teams remotely, including on digital marketing, app promotion, content localization and translation workflows.

    Skills:

    • Strong writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to write concise, audience-centred copy for parents and caregivers.
    • Practical command of push notification and campaign management tools (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging) and of email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailjet or equivalent).
    • Ability to interpret basic engagement analytics (delivery, open and click-through rates, retention) and translate them into communications decisions.
    • Experience managing app-store reviews and user correspondence, with sound judgement on tone and escalation
    • Strong coordination and facilitation skills, and the ability to advise and support colleagues with varying levels of communications capacity.
    • Knowledge of the environment in which the UN and UNICEF operate, and ability to align communications work with UNICEF’s strategic priorities, branding, accessibility and child-safeguarding standards.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines and deliver to schedule with limited supervision.
    • Language Requirements: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.

    Desirables:

    • Familiarity with early childhood development and parenting programming.
    • Familiarity with Digital Public Goods and open-source digital solutions.
    • Knowledge of survey design and basic analysis.
    • Experience with content management systems (e.g. Drupal) and with translation and localization management.
    • Prior experience working with UNICEF or another UN agency.
