    Communications Intern

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

    • Assist in targeting social media audiences and engagement efforts. 
    • Assist in finding new opportunities for promoting digital platforms, such as the African Scholarship Hub. 
    • Help monitor ESSA's digital platforms, such as the African Education Research Database to ensure it is functioning. 
    • Assist in gathering relevant media contacts, keeping track of media coverage and creating regular reports summarising key insights. 
    • Assist in the planning and execution of both virtual and in-person events. 
    • Help develop visually appealing and compelling social media content (e.g., graphics, images, and videos) 

    PERSON SPECIFICATION 

     ESSENTIAL 

    Qualifications 

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Candidates with diploma-level qualifications will also be considered. 

    Skills 

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on clarity, structure, and professionalism. 
    • Strong writing and editing skills. 
    • Attentive to details. 
    • Basic skills in Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign/Illustrator) or equivalent software. 
    • Basic skills in video production and photography. 
    • Passion for improving education for young people in sub-Saharan Africa. 
    • Commitment to values of equality, diversity, and inclusion. 
    • Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritize effectively. 
    • Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Office 365. Experience with databases (e.g., Excel) would be helpful. 
    • Ability to work remotely.
