    Community Health Tutor

    Tasks and responsibility

    • Participate in the training and assessment of learning of students during COBES including:
    • Preparing and uploading lesson plans and related teaching and learning and assessment materials for learning at community level 
    • Conducting community simulations with students
    • Guiding and coaching students during community attachments
    • Assessing students’ performance
    • Mentor, guide and advice students in their learning and development of professional behaviour 
    • Contribute to other activities related to community-based training and care
    • In collaboration with senior trainers, evaluate student performance

    Required competencies

    • Competent community health worker with up-to-date knowledge and good technical and generic skills in community development, health promotion and disease prevention at community level
    • Exhibit intercultural sensitivity, appreciation and tolerance
    • Interest in training and mentoring young healthcare professionals
    • Good communicator both individually and with groups
    • Good written and oral communication in English and Swahili. 
    • Good computer skills with good mastery of MS office applications
    • Good team player.

    Required education and experience 

    • Diploma in Community Health and Development
    • 2 years’ experience in providing community / health care services

    Added advantages

    • NCMTC Alumnus
    • Teaching experience
    • Certificate in health professions / medical education, or education in general
    • Good skills and experience in statistics and research
    • Experience with or additional qualification in community health and / or development 
    • Experience with behaviour change communication
    • Experience with mentoring adolescents
    • Experience with e-learning
    • Fluency in the local language (Miji Kenda)
