Consultant - Public Health, Human Resources for Health - at World Health Organization

Purpose of consultancy

To provide technical expertise to the Roadmap Steering Committee and Working for health.

Deliverables

• Deliverable 1 - Provide technical input to the Roadmap Steering Committee meetings to be convened on a quarterly basis. 
• Deliverable 2 - Provide input to the technical and strategic alignment across the five workstreams as per guidance from technical officers of HWF. 
• Deliverable 3 - Report on the policy progress of global health architecture relevant to the roadmap on a monthly basis, in particular, UN, WHO, G7, G20, World Bank, IMF, Member States, and the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) for drafting and negotiation of a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
• Deliverable 4 - Prepare progress documents and steering committee outputs to drive the implementation of the action plan.
• Deliverable 5 - Document and disseminate activities, results and impact, in close collaboration with assigned WHO regional (AFRO, EMRO, EURO, SEARO, WPRO) and WHO CO counterparts, and with other implementing partners such as ILO and OECD.
• Deliverable 6 - Facilitate and contribute to the scheduled core and ad-hoc technical meetings, webinars, technical sessions and related events, including the preparation of background papers, agendas, technical presentations, resources and facilitation guides.
• Deliverable 7 - Contribute to the preparation and facilitation of regular scheduled meetings and collaboration with external partners and stakeholders on the Working for Health 2022-2030 Action Plan and its agenda, including the preparation of background papers, briefing notes and meeting outcomes.

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

• University degree in Public Health, or related health education field.

Desirable: 

• Advance degree in Medicine or related fields.   

Experience

Essential:

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in the area of global health/ public health.
• Experience in project implementation and knowledge management.

Desirable: 

• Demonstrated previous experience of research and program management on global health/public health.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Strong interpersonal communications and writing skills.
• Ability to carry-out assignments in accordance with instructions and guidance.
• Ability to work as a team with a variety of stakeholders and meet deadlines.
• Solid organizational skills.
• Proficiency of MS office applications and computer skills including the ability to make high quality technical presentations and analysis.
