    Cook/Food Handler

    DEPARTMENT: M&A – BOS Galley Position

    REPORT TO: Supervisor, Food Services

    DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serves meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
    • Prepares ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste; and plating meals.
    • Completes hot meal preparation by grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients and assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients.
    • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs as required; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
    • Assisting 2nd cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with a variety of restaurant/dining facilities patrons.
    • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning, and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
    • Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements.
    • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
    • Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
    • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
    • Must have valid and obtain a valid Driver’s License with Restriction Code (at least 2)

    • Completed TESDA course with the National Certifications is a plus:
      • Commercial Cooking NC II, III, IV
      • Cookery NC II
      • Culinary Training for Ship Cooks
      • Hot Kitchen Operation/Cooking leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
      • Hot Meal Operation/Cooking leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
      • Cold Kitchen Operation/Cooking leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
      • Cold Meal Operation/Cooking leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
      • Plan and Cost Catering Services leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
    • Plan and Prepare Foods leading to Commercial Cooking NC II
      • Plan and Prepare Quantity of Foods leading to Commercial Cooking NC II

    EDUCATION:

    • Must be at least high school or technical school graduate.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or any equivalent is preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5-years’ experience as Cook or 2nd Cook for the U.S. Military Installation or with American owned companies and/or equivalent civilian experience.

    Basic terms of the job offer.

    • Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance.
    • Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $540.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
    • Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
    • Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
    • Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday, will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
    • Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
    • Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
    • Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
    • Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
    • Project Holidays: 10 paid holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, President’s Day, Philippine Independence Day, USA Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

    Other requirements

    • Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
    • Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
    • Updated covid vaccination certificate
    • Medical exam report at a date to be advised.
