Data & Visualization Project Manager at Viamo

About the role

• Reporting to the Data Analysis and Visualization Manager, the Program Manager for Data and Visualization position will be based remotely or in one of Viamo’s operating countries. This position might require travel to project sites. Your role is to manage the quality, generate reports and dashboards as well as develop best practices and templates for Program Managers in the Implementation team to use for their reporting needs. You will be a main focal point and oversee relevant strategic initiatives for data and reporting for all Implementation hubs.

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation

• Lead data and reporting portion of project implementation for the Implementation team
• Advise and recommend Program Managers to apply best practices to optimize mobile content for data reporting purposes
• Assist Program Managers in content building to best suit reporting needs; including tree tagging best practices by product

Dashboard Development

• Good to excellent understanding of the Viamo platform and database, with a particular advanced understanding of the advanced reporting app, including the engagement and contact reports and how to integrate them using Big Query
• Create visualizations of data including reports and dashboards
• Work closely with Viamo’s Data and Insights crew towards strengthening Viamo’s data visualization and presentation offerings

Data Analysis

• Help Program Managers unearth insights and interpret trends in complex datasets for our clients by analyzing data and creating reports using Excel. An ability to pull insights from the data is a must.
• Analyze user data using statistical techniques to generate cross-project insights that answer business problems, especially those centered around improving the user experience and impact
• Advanced knowledge of any (or multiple) software for data analytics and visualization (Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, STATA) for dashboard visualizations

Best Practices and Reporting Templates Development

• Work closely with Program Managers to design experiments, learning pilots and A/B tests templates to ensure data is correctly collected in a timely, uniform, and analyzable way and to achieve maximum understanding of data collected by Viamo
• Work closely with the project delivery unit to develop reusable reporting templates and best practices (multi product, single variate, multiple variate …) for Implementation reporting: narrative reports templates, inception and project close-out reports, standardize reporting templates for multi-product projects, best practices SOPs, A/B tests templates
• Develop a bank of data knowledge from past projects (trends, region-wise data … )

Troubleshooting

• Identify bugs and unexpected behavior related to Viamo’s reporting tools; proactively and clearly report these to Viamo’s technical support team

Profile

Required

• Over 3 years of experience working as a data analyst/ data scientist
• Experience working remotely
• Expertise in database management languages (MySQL, BigQuery Standard SQL, etc)
• Experience in dashboarding software (Google Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI etc)
• Advanced skills in Excel
• Experience working with user engagement data
• Expertise in analytical analysis - Cross-tabular analysis, multiple variables analysis etc.
• Strong technical problem solving skills, proven ability to troubleshoot and debug
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical team members
• Experience of coaching teams in best practices in approaches and methodologies in data science
• A proven ability to systematically approach tasks and to manage multiple, at times changing priorities and expectations

Desirable

• Degree in computer science, data science, or similar
• Experience using a data visualization tool to prototype dashboards
• Experience of AWS and Google Cloud Platform infrastructure
• Experience using STATA/SPSS/SAS preferred
• Experience of working with a data warehouse solution (eg. BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake etc)
