Database Administrator at Catholic University of Eastern Africa

Minimum Requirements 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT;
• Be of high Christian morals, values and maturity.
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills;
• High sense of integrity and organizational ability;
• High Level knowledge in Unix/Windows operating systems skills;
• Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS), object oriented database management systems' (OODBMS) and XML databse management systems;
• Experience with common open source software such as Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Perl etc).
• Good understanding and experience with learning Management systems such as Moodle
• Experience with common open source software such as Apache, Tomcat, PHP, Perl etc).
• Good understanding and experience with Document Management Solutions such as Afresco Document Management Software
• At least four (4) year's of experience as a Database/Application Administrator in a busy institution;
• Solid understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL)

Job Responsibilities 

• Analyze, interpret and disseminate systems performance data
• Assist in the development of document or content classification taxonomies to facilitate information capture, search, and retrieval;
• Maintain system documentation
• Management of systems security and data backup/recovery;
• Monitoring systems performance and troubleshooting issues;
• Prepare users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
• Provide technical assistance and support to the Moodle Learning Management System software:
• Responsible for setting up, configuration and fine-tuning of various applications and their associated databases e.g. Moodle learning, management system (LMS) and Document Management (DMS).
