    Deputy Director, Parliamentary Affairs

    For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

    • served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Director,
    • Parliamentary Liaison CSG 7 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;
    • a Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Law, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Public Administration, Business Management, Economics, Statistics or any other equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and
    • demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a though understanding of national goals, policies objectives and ability to relate them to Parliamentary Liaison function.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: -

    • coordinating the development, reviewing and implementing of the Parliamentary Liaison Framework;
    • ensuring MDAs’ compliance with the Parliamentary Liaison Framework;
    • coordinating the monitoring of parliamentary proceedings on Government business;
    • coordinating the appraisal of Parliament and Cabinet on Government affairs;
    • liaising with Parliament for receipt and maintenance of records Parliamentary enquiries to MDAs;
    • coordinating the monitoring of MDA responses to Parliamentary enquiries;
    • Liaising with parliament for the receipt of and maintenance of a database on Parliamentary Resolutions and National Executive’s undertakings to Parliament;
    • coordinating the monitoring of the implementation of Parliamentary Resolutions and National Executive’s Undertakings to Parliament;
    • coordinating the development and reviewing of tools for monitoring and tracking
    • the implementation of the Parliamentary Resolutions and National Executive’s undertakings to parliament;
    • coordinating the preparation of responses and reports to Parliament;
    • coordinating the establishment and maintenance of a database of Parliamentary Liaison Officers in the Executive; and
    • coordinating the formulation and reviewing of the roles of Parliamentary Liaison Officers in the Executive.
