Deputy Director, Youth Services at Turkana County Government

• Deputy Director Youth Affairs will be responsible to County Director Youth Affairs in matters related to Youth in the County.

Duties and responsibilities

• Coordinate the development of strategies plans for the youth;
• Formulate an annual budget for the youth Directorate; 23 c) Develop youth friendly strategies;
• Formulate policies to guide on youth groups management;
• Oversee the management of youth programmes;
• Develop strategies on youth entrepreneurial programmes;
• Enable development of the capacity of youth instructors in the county;
• Provide leadership in the management of the youth groups;
• Develop linkages with stakeholders involved in youth affairs; and
• Develop a work plan on inter and intra county youth involvement;
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -

•  Served in the grade of Assistant Director Youth Affairs for a minimum period of three (3) years or in any comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Public Sector;
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline: Business Management/Administration, Entrepreneurship, Sociology, Social Work, Gender and Development, Culture and Development, Social Development or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in any of the following discipline: Business Management/Administration, Entrepreneurship, Sociology, Social Work, Gender and Development, Culture and Development, Social Development or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution will be added advantage;
• Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution in Kenya; e) Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution; and
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability to relate them to the Youth Affairs function.
