DevOps Engineer at Royal Media Group

Royal Media Services is looking for a DevOps Engineer to be based in one of our subsidiary Companies.

1. He/She will support development and operations, including coding, infrastructure management, system administration, and DevOps tool chains.
2. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of common system architecture, provisioning, and administration, source control, giving and receiving code reviews, writing unit tests, and familiarity with agile principles.

Key roles & responsibilities

1. Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure
2. Working with software developers and software engineers to build systems and ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
3. Design, configure, and support software build/deploy pipelines (CI/CD, Git, GitLab) for Group projects
4. Undertakes software deployment through various staged operating environments i.e. Development, QA, Staging, Production
5. Ensure that we have the best system hosting & backup services for all products across the Group
6. Tests code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline and minimize errors
7. Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
8. Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.
9. Optimization of the applications for maximum speed and scalability.

Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Computer Engineering or any other relevant course
2. Proven programming experience in web based application development with a focus on JavaScript (JQuery, AngularJS) PHP (WordPress CMS, Laravel or Codeigniter Framework, HTML, MySQL (PostgreSQL as added advantage)
3. Hands-on experience with Web Services and API’s (REST, SOAP, etc ..)
4. Working knowledge of AWS, Git, Bitbucket, SMS, USSD and HTML5
5. Experience with flutter will be an added advantage
6. Experience with Firebase, Location Services, Video/Audio streaming, and other common iOS/ Android libraries
7. Understanding of the Agile development life-cycle
8. Experience with Microsoft dynamics customization will be an added advantage
9. Experience deploying applications on AWS
10. Must have strong debugging, troubleshooting and collaborative skills
11. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience at corporate or media institutions at similar roles
12. Self-starter, Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
13. Strong written and verbal communication skills
14. Attention to details, Willingness to innovate, explore new ideas and acquire new skills.
