Advanced Software Engineer at Dimension Data

Requirements

1. Develop applications that effectively accomplish client objectives and user needs.
2. Design and write code for applications and maintain applications databases.
3. Analyze and edit existing software applications to improve and optimise functionality, fix problems and enable its use on new hardware platforms.
4. Remodel and adapt applications as needed to optimize performance.
5. Identify specific business needs and preferences related to application.
6. Test applications extensively to ensure they are error and bug free.
7. Install applications and act as technical advisor.
8. Communicate with relevant internal technical stakeholders to obtain information on project limitations, performance requirements and interfaces.
9. Consult with business stakeholders in the design phase to determine client needs.
10. Produce software documentation following company software process and templates.
11. Participates in software product review meetings and team meetings.
12. Refactoring code
13. Review code written by other developers

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent with related demonstrable experience
2. Experience working with geo distributed teams through innovation, bootstrapping, pilot and production phases with multiple stakeholders to the highest levels of quality and performance
3. Experience in working with large data sets and ability to apply proper ML/AI algorithms
4. Five or more years developing micro-services and RESTful APIs

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

1. Strong understanding of cloud architecture and services in multiple public cloud based technologies like AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365
2. Seasoned and experienced professional with high proficiency in the following technologies required.
3. Strong PhP, C#, ASP.NET, Node.JS, Sails.JS combined experience
4. Experience and understanding of other programming and scripting languages.
5. Strong knowledge of Frameworks
6. Understanding of MVC design patterns
7. Understanding of front-end technologies, such as Angular, Vue.JS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
8. Web services / API (REST, JSON, SOAP, XML)
9. MS SQL/NoSQL/MySQL/Mongo/MariaDB databases and relevant languages.
10. Proficient understand of code versioning tools, such as GitLab, BitBucket.
11. Deployment tools such as Jenkins
12. Project Management tools like Jira, Projec, Flow.
13. Experience with container run time (Docker, LXC/LXD)
14. Familiar with SafeAgile practices and believes in test driven development
15. Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools
16. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
17. Possess a can-do attitude and one that takes initiative
18. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
19. Ability to work multi-functionally and work well as a diverse team
