    Director of Programs

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • The Director of Programs responsible for the design or development of programs; implementation operations in all areas where World Relief International - Kenya implements programs; quality assurance and technical expertise in delivery of the programs, resource mobilization as well as effective management of WRI-K programs to increase impact and enable positive change for beneficiaries. The post holder will also ensure effective representation or communication as assigned by the Country Director. 

    Role & Responsibilities

    • Member of the Senior Management Team/Executive Leadership Team
    • Program Design - Lead the programs team in designing of projects for resource development and execution
    • Program Management - will be the focal point person for program management with different programs/projects implemented by WRI falling under his/her charge.
    • Program Quality and Technical excellence
    • Monitoring evaluation and Learning - Develop and manage program implementation plans; monitor and review implementation progress against plans and document the progress and action corrective measures.
    • Representation: Represent WRI-K with donors and other development partners
    • Staff management: Ensure people management of the Programs department, planning and implementing specific actions to recruit, manage and motivate staff as per WRK-I policies and procedures
    • Program design and business development: Participate in the conceptualizing and designing of programs in line with WRI-K priorities; Engage with donors to pre-position and prepare for opportunities, and engage in strategic positioning work directly as appropriate

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Experience and knowledge of program/project management; financial, budget and grants management; and people management
    • Fluent in English
    • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the thematic priorities of the programs in WRK: agriculture and livelihoods, savings, health and nutrition, child development and protection, and faith leader engagement
    • Experience of working with donors to secure and/or manage funding
    • Experience in advocacy, campaigns and change management
    • Experience of building networks resulting in securing new opportunities for the organisation
    • Experience managing, leading, motivating and developing a diverse team of senior staff
    • Strategic thinking skills to develop highly ambitious business strategies and the track record of delivery. Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.

    Requirements

    • Mature and personal Christian faith
    • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Masters degree in Development Studies, Economics, Project Planning and Management, Strategic Management, Agriculture, Business Administration or any relevant field
    • 7 years experience in a non governmental organization 5 of which should be at managerial level: programs operations and or program development and quality
