Basic Salary Ksh.14,610 p.m.

House Allowance Varies according to the area of deployment

Commuter Allowance:   Ksh.3,000.00 per month

Medical Benefits   As applicable in the Civil Service

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade D (Plain) from a recognized institution;
2. a valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) an officer required to drive;
3. attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
4. passed suitability Test for Driver Grade III from Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) ;
5. passed  Practical  Test  for  Drivers  conducted Ministry/Department;
6. a valid Police Clearance Certificate
7. at least two (2) years driving experience

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

1. driving a motor vehicle as authorized
2. carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc;
3. detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicles systems;
4. maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
5. ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;
6. safety of passengers and/or goods therein; and
7. maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle
