EHS Officer at Baran Telecom Networks Kenya Limited

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Officer to oversee and manage all aspects of environmental, health, and safety compliance within our organization. The successful candidate will ensure a safe working environment for employees, comply with regulatory standards, and promote a culture of safety and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations and company policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification across various work areas.
• Lead and document incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
• Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
• Maintain and update EHS documentation, records, permits, and reports.
• Support environmental sustainability efforts, including waste management and pollution control.
• Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct periodic safety drills.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, auditors, and third-party vendors as needed.
• Promote continuous improvement in EHS performance across the organization.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, First Aid / CPR certification and any other relevant EHS certification will be considered.
• 2+ years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in an Engineering and Telecommunication setting..
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable EHS regulations.
• Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards is a plus.
• Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies (e.g. JSA, HIRA).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Competent in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with EHS software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
