Engineer Energy Optimization at Safaricom Kenya

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Design the position holder  whose scope for this position is Energy Performance Optimization, will be responsible for end to end ownership of energy systems digitalization, automation in full consideration of energy efficiency and reduction in energy consumption, energy systems digitalisation and automation initiatives spectrum of network(Data centre, Hub sites, BTS sites)in the region assigned cluster.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive implementation of energy systems digitalization and automation.
• Energy data analysis and presentation.
• Lead Energy consumption reduction and increase in Energy efficiency drive initiatives.
• Energy project management governance to ensure conformance with data center standards and risk integration of energy projects into existing systems.
• Liaise with Data Center OPS/Energy Planning/ Energy Implementation teams, and Regional Network Maintenance team to ensure Optimized energy supply and utilization.
• Health and safety standards are maintained and improved during project execution.
• Carbon emission reduction.
• Energy equipment inventory management.
• Vendor Selection for different projects evaluation of EOI and RFP documents for vendor selection.
• Vendor management evaluation and appraisal for Energy equipment performance, vendors support and SLA performance and project implementation contractors.
• Lead in Energy Audits (Legal-Eppra and ISO).

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer, IT or related field.
• Should have demonstratable 3yrs experience working in energy system in telecommission environment.
• Should demonstrate expertise IT/computer skills.
• Should demonstrate proficiency in Data analytical and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of Data Center Management systems including, CEM/CMVP and accreditation is an added advantage.
