Entomology Technician at Buni Banda

• The Entomology Technician will assist in monitoring and analyzing mosquito populations and other vectors to support the project’s health-related objectives. This role involves fieldwork, sample collection, and collaboration with the research team to provide actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain mosquito traps and other vector surveillance tools.
• Collect and document samples from field sites, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
• Conduct preliminary analysis of vector samples under laboratory conditions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of entomological data.
• Collaborate with the Data Analyst to integrate entomological data into risk maps.
• Support the development of protocols for vector monitoring and control.
• Provide technical input during community workshops on vector-related risks.
• Assist in training field staff on vector surveillance techniques.
• Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Stay updated on advancements in entomology to enhance monitoring strategies.
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to research publications.
• Adhere to safety and ethical guidelines during all field and laboratory activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Entomology, Biology, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
