    Export Sales Manager

    Purpose of the role:

    To generate and manage the profitable sales of Storymoja products in other countries and to recommend products and manage foreign partnerships that help the company meets its objectives.

    Storymoja is a 14-year old Kenyan company that has published over 400 titles for ages 4-17 years, including storybooks, textbooks and supplementary materials in digital and physical formats. Our vision is to ‘get a book in every hand’.

    Key Responsibilities of the Export Manager

    1. Collect and analyse information about customers, distributors, publishers and foreign competitors in different export markets.
    2. Attend relevant trade shows, exhibitions and exploit other export business promotion activities, and keep abreast of developments that affect the sector/markets.
    3. Identify and rank business opportunities in the export markets as per the key criteria provided.
    4. Recommend appropriate Storymoja products to meet the needs for each export market.
    5. Recommend most appropriate partners for Storymoja to work with in different markets.
    6. Propose and negotiate contractual terms, processes and timelines.
    7. Prepare and then implement agreed strategies and marketing plans within the agreed budgets and agreed timelines.
    8. Liaise with Storymoja team to avail the products within agreed quality parameters and timelines.
    9. Be proactive in anticipating and coming up with effective solutions to any issues that slow or hamper export procedures and activities.
    10. Monitor distributor's performance and monitor their work and provide relevant information and recommendations to management.

    Be ready to demonstrate that you:

    1. Have export experience at a senior management level
    2. Are willing to travel frequently
    3. Have strong interpersonal communication skills
    4. Have excellent negotiation skills
    5. Are self-motivated
    6. Have strong time management and organization skills
    7. Proficiency in French would be an advantage

    Remuneration

    Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a commission scheme.
