Fiber Design and Planning Engineer at Techminds Technologies Ltd

This is a full-time on-site role for a Design and Planning Engineer for Fiber Rollout at Techminds Technologies Limited, located in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Design and Planning Engineer will be responsible for surveying, designing route plans, generating approved quotes, and documentation. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and deployment of fiber networks, ensuring high-speed connectivity and efficient service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on all aspects of fiber design and planning.
• Produce desktop plans prior to attending site and identify the most suitable routes.
• Assist the acquisition team with the acquisition process.
• Liaise with the EHS team and implementation supervisor to develop appropriate safety surveys, LLD, HLD, and quotes.
• Collaborate with customers to ensure approval of LLD, HLD, and quotes.
• Generate wayleave designs for permit processing.
• Support the implementation team and supervisor to ensure the approved design is implemented as required.
• Update the customer on any changes in design throughout the implementation process.
• Liaise with asset and landowners to resolve any issues preventing project approval.
• Update as-built documents upon project completion on the customer system and our local server.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the company from time to time.

Requirements

• Understanding of fiber installation is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in geospatial engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a related field such as computer science/IT.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Google Maps, Global Mapper, Connect Master/Lepton, QGIS, and Geomapping.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Team player with flexibility to work at odd hours.
• Ability to quickly adapt and respond.
