    Fiberglass Technician

    Job Purpose:

    A Fiberglass Laminator will be responsible for all the fiberglass work required in the production of a range of boats. The job requires a high level of skill in the application of fiberglass to ensure a high-quality finish according to the specifications required for the boat. The position requires knowledge and expertise in the handling of fiberglass and the job holder is to ensure that the production process is efficient and that there is no undue wastage of raw materials critical to the objective of producing a high-quality low-cost boat to ensure wide market acceptance.

    Key responsibilities:

    • To apply the fiberglass sheets and resins in the correct mix.
    • To ensure that the fiberglass is evenly laid across the mould to ensure balance of the final product.
    • To apply fiberglass to the various elements of the boat parts such as consoles, deck hatches etc and to install these correctly on the boat in specified sequence.
    • Ensure a smooth finish of the fiberglass.
    • Check the final product and to report any defects. To ensure that such defects have been corrected prior to the boat being taken off the production line.
    • All work must be carried out in the correct sequence of operation, quality standards and work instructions.
    • Collaborate and communicate with team to ensure On Time deliveries of product.
    • Must keep company provided tools and equipment secured and in good working condition
    • Ensuring that the production area is in excellent condition regarding cleanliness, safety, and equipment condition to minimize production down time and support cost efficient production Initiatives.
    • Seek opportunities to drive improvement on processes
    • Able to complete other related duties as assigned by management
    • Apply sound problem-solving skills to achieve high quality standards with minimal supervision

    Required qualifications and experience:

    • At least 4 years’ experience in working with fiberglass
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently
    •  Ability to work 7am-5pm Monday-Friday
    • Ability to work possible Saturdays depending on company workload

    • Use of initiative for problem solving
    • Work well under pressure and maintain a deadline
    • Can work as a team and can take direction
