Field Coordinator – North & South Rift Region at InformAction

Job Purpose 

• The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of InformAction’s programmes within the assigned region, strengthening community engagement and partnerships, monitoring the human rights and civic space environment, and ensuring quality delivery of project activities in line with organizational priorities and donor requirements. The position supports democratic governance, accountability, peaceful civic participation and protection of human rights, particularly within Kenya’s evolving political and electoral context.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate community mobilization activities, including mobile screening dialogues, civic education, public participation forums and strengthening of Community Action Teams (CATs), ensuring meaningful participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities and marginalized groups.
• Coordinate implementation of regional programme activities, work plans and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and compliance with organizational and donor requirements
• Monitor, document and analyze human rights violations, civic space developments, governance trends and election-related issues, producing timely reports, early warning briefs and evidence to inform advocacy and programme adaptation
• Support peaceful elections and democratic governance initiatives through conflict-sensitive programming, documentation of electoral developments and collaboration with county stakeholders, peace actors and civil society networks.
• Support the Small Grants Manager in coordinating partner activities at the county level, as requested, including providing capacity strengthening and technical support to grantee partners, conducting field monitoring and verification visits, following up on agreed action points, collecting implementation data, success stories and lessons learned, and undertaking other field-based support to the Small Grants function as assigned.
• Coordinate logistical and operational arrangements for field-based and online advocacy, civic engagement and public participation activities.
• Liaise with county governments, constitutional commissions, county-based partners, local authorities, civil society organizations, community leaders, media and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and support effective implementation of programme activities.
• Support partner compliance with safeguarding, security and operational procedures during field activities, escalating any concerns to the relevant programme staff.
• Support programme quality through Results-Based Management (RBM), monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability processes, ensuring timely reporting, quality data, community feedback mechanisms and organizational learning.
• Support efficient management of regional operations by overseeing activity logistics, procurement processes, budget monitoring, asset management, risk and security monitoring, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding, PSEAH, fraud prevention, whistleblowing, data protection and other organizational policies.
• Document programme achievements, case studies and lessons learned, and contribute to advocacy, communications and donor visibility activities.
• Supervise and mentor regional support staff, consultants and volunteers where applicable, promoting teamwork, accountability and continuous learning.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Community Engagement Lead consistent with the objectives of the position.

Education:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Law, or a related field. Management experience is an added advantage.
• Basic accounting skills.

Experience:

• Minimum of five years experience with a non-profit organization, with proven involvement in civic activism and public affairs.
• Established community action networks.
• Residency or strong connections within the community.
• Proficiency in Swahili, English, and local languages such as Nandi and Masai.
• Knowledge of the non-profit, human rights, and governance sectors, including understanding the political, socio-economic, and security contexts in Kenya and their impact on communities.
• Demonstrated commitment to the ideals of political activism.

Location: 

•  Regional Office (Eldoret) with frequent travel across Uasin Gishu, Narok and other counties as required. Candidates should be prepared for frequent travel and demonstrate awareness of security and well-being considerations relevant to the region.

Duration: 

• Fixed-term, 12 months (renewable subject to performance and funding availability)
