    Gateway Manager

    Role Context

    To manage, coordinate and support all operations functions including

    • OPS Service Quality
    • OPS Projects
    • OPS Finance
    • OPS Admin
    • OPS CIS T&D

    Key responsibilities

    • Mentorship and coaching to develop top performers with appropriate succession planning
    • Provide opportunities and guidance that enable the transfer of learning into effective practice for employees and their managers
    • Use coaching methods that provide an environment that is participatory, supportive and provides constructive feedback on performance
    • Able to cascade the strategy to ensure triple bottom line performance objectives are met.
    • Provide leadership to the gateway facility and take responsibility of the gateway performance
    • Coordinate stakeholders to ensure the desired results are achieved
    • Communicate and influence senior business leaders outside of own job area to accept practices and approaches
    • Advise customers and key stakeholders on processes, systems and tools
    • Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders and managers across SSA
    • Cooperate with, negotiate contracts and coordinate all stakeholders e.g. 3rd parties / external service providers
    • Influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
    • Understand mentee and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise
    • Extensive proactive coordination with other specialist departments to ensure the desired results are achieved

    Minimum Requirements

    Education & Experience

    • University degree and relevant commercial / business qualifications
    • Post-graduate qualification in Business Management
    • Certification in KRA customs will be an added advantage
    • 8 years’ Management experience in the express / logistics / aviation industry or within similar business
    • Experienced in driving change and innovation
    • Proven track record of success to ensure BIC quality and productivity
    • Broad cross functional experience
    • Broad understanding of all functional aspects of the business and sound experience managing a complete Profit and loss entity
    • High degree of business acumen and understanding of the external economic environment and how this may affect DHL's short and long term planning
