General Manager – Production at Kenya Shipyards Limited

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills):
Academic Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree from an accredited university/college in any of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or similar qualification with a strong technical background.
• A first level university degree from an accredited university/college in any of the following fields;Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or similar qualifications with a strong technical background combined with the required work experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.

Professional Qualifications: 

• Professional qualification / certification as applicable.
• Undertaken a Strategic Leadership/Management course from a recognized institution.
• Ability to understand and administer ABS Classification guidelines, USCG and SOLAS and IMO requirements.
• Considerable knowledge in all areas of shipbuilding and repair, material handling, labor, safety and product related state and federal regulations and practices.
• Proficient in Computer application and computer aided applications drawings.

Previous relevant work experience required: 

• At least twelve (12) years’ working experience, five (5) years of which should be in a managerial position in the following areas: 
• Shipyard/dockyard management
• Technical experience in Maritime/Marine and Military Naval Systems. 
• Experience in the management of shipyards and/or supervising ship construction at a managerial level.
• Experience in the Disciplined Services at managerial/senior command of at least 5 years is desirable.
• International experience in shipbuilding will be an added advantage
