The GM ensures full compliance with SEZ regulations, drives business growth by attracting customers with diversified solutions, value-added services, manages customs and logistics operations, oversees financial and administrative performance to achieve profitability and sustainability of the SEZ. Specific deliverables will be:-
Strategic Management
Develop and implement the SEZ's strategic and operational plans in alignment with the Company's overall business objectives.
Identify business opportunities within regional and international markets to attract new Clients.
Oversee expansion plans, infrastructure development, and partnerships to enhance SEZ competitiveness.
Represent the SEZ in Government, regulatory, and investor forums.
Operations & Logistics
Oversee the day-to-day SEZ operations including warehousing, transport, value-added services, and distribution.
Ensure seamless coordination of inbound and outbound logistics in compliance with SEZ and customs procedures.
Drive operational efficiency through automation, process improvement, and performance tracking.
Supervise the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for customs documentation, bonded movements, Stock management and product traceability.
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with SEZ regulations, Kenya Revenue Authority and other statutory requirements.
Liaise closely with SEZ Authority, Customs, and government bodies for smooth regulatory operations.
Maintain proper documentation and reporting for bonded goods, processing activities, and exports.
Manage audits, inspections, and compliance reviews effectively.
Business Development
Develop marketing strategies to position the SEZ as a regional logistics hub.
Build relationships with importers, exporters, manufacturers, and third-party logistics partners.
Negotiate and finalize contracts and service agreements with clients.
Introduce innovative service offerings to increase revenue.
Financial & Administrative Management
Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports.
Control operational costs and optimize resource utilization.
Oversee billing, revenue collection, and client accounts.
Ensure strong internal controls and transparent financial management.
Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and motivate cross-functional teams in operations, finance, compliance, and customer service.
Establish performance standards and conduct regular reviews.
Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
Identify training and development needs to strengthen staff capabilities.
Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred
10-15 years of experience in logistics, SEZ management, or port/free zone operations.
Strong knowledge of SEZ, customs, and bonded warehousing procedures.
Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in business development and client relationship management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
