Job Description/Requirements

DEPARTMENT OF WATER, ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES

Duties and responsibilities

1. Explore/Study the Earth’s structure and natural processes Across the county and advise on the viability of underground water in various wards;
2. Advise on the relevant regulations and laws in line with ground water;
3. Collect and analyze data, report findings;
4. Be responsible for researching job - related subjects and writing reports;
5. Submission of research to journals and industry related print resources for publication consideration;
6. Be responsible for presenting geological findings at county – related conferences or workshops;
7. Site investigations
8. Sample collection Supervision of land delineation
9. Supervision active work locations
10. Assess and incorporate quality controls Gather data for hydrologic, geologic, and alternative databases
11. Create visualizations for sharing data, including maps, groundwater modeling, soil analyses, and mineral charts
12. Communicate with stakeholders
13. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Requirements for Appointment

1. Be a Kenyan citizen
2. Degree in Geology or Equivalent
3. At least 2 years’ experience in related fields
4. A training in various geo - engineering design soft wares will be an added advantage
5. Management skills
6.  Knowledgeable in different scientific areas including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, Earth sciences, and the geosciences Knowledge of relevant regulations and laws, and communication and writing skills;
7. Ability to analyze data, report findings, and have familiarity with analysis software
8. Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution
9. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Terms of Service:

1. 3 years Contract renewable subject to performance.
2. Salary as prescribed by SRC.
