About the Role
GAIN is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to drive its digital, data, and technology function. The Head of Digital, Data and Technology will be responsible for ensuring value for money, and overseeing high standards of system integrity, whilst shaping a strategic, AI and data-enabled operation.
This position will combine strategic oversight of governance, projects, suppliers, and risk management with leadership of a small internal team, working closely with technology partners to deliver both transformational change and day-to-day operational excellence.
This full-time role will be based out of Nairobi, Kenya or New Delhi, India and will be offered on a 2.5 year fixed-term contract basis.
Key Responsibilities include
- Lead the strategic vision for GAIN’s digital, data, and technology environment, ensuring systems are secure, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Advise senior leadership on technology strategy, investment, innovation, and opportunities to leverage AI.
- Drive digital transformation by delivering scalable, value-for-money solutions across geographically dispersed teams.
- Oversee the technology stack, budgets, project delivery, and standardised processes for systems development and implementation.
- Manage outsourced service providers to ensure high-quality, secure, 24/7 infrastructure across 16 countries aligned with SLAs.
- Ensure strong cybersecurity, GDPR compliance, and business continuity while managing technology and data-related risks.
- Provide reliable, timely data to support organisational planning, decision-making, and reporting, ensuring strong data governance and AI readiness.
- Lead and develop the digital, data, and technology team, ensuring effective project management, stakeholder engagement, and staff training.
About You
- The ideal candidate will be a strategic and forward-thinking technology leader with strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. You will have experience managing IT or digital functions in international or geographically dispersed organisations preferably within the NGO sector with proven strengths in budgeting, risk management, contractor oversight, and delivering effective technology strategies. You are an experienced people manager who can lead diverse teams, drive innovation, and balance operational and transformational priorities.
- You will bring solid technical expertise across software development, network infrastructure, data, cloud technologies, and emerging tools such as AI, along with hands-on experience in tools like Dynamics NAV, SharePoint, SQL, Salesforce, and Tableau.
- A minimum education background with Master’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, you understand how digital and data systems underpin organisational performance and are committed to delivering secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology solutions.
