Our client is a startup hotel located in Juja focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences with a modern approach. They are building from the ground up and looking for a dynamic, resourceful, and well experienced Hotel Manager to lead operations and help shape their identity.
Role summary:
The Hotel Manager will oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including guest services, staff management, budgeting, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strategic thinking, operational excellence and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Startup & Brand Development:
- Support and lead pre-opening activities, including setup of systems, vendor negotiations, and teams onboarding
- Contribute to the development of the hotel's brand identity and culture and help shape policies, SOPs, and the long-term strategy of the hotel
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure adherence and compliance to local laws, safety standards, and hospitality regulations and maintain property security, cleanliness, and hygiene protocols
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure high levels of cleanliness, maintenance, and service delivery.
Operational & Strategic Leadership:
- Oversee all hotel departments including front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance and guest services
- Manage daily operations to ensure quality and efficiency
- Ensure seamless coordination among departments to deliver exceptional guest experience and operational efficiency.
- Monitor daily performance and make improvements where need be to meet or exceed hotel standards
- Provide hands-on leadership and direction to department heads and staff.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of hotel staff to build a high-performing team.
- Set performance objectives, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback and coaching.
Financial Oversight:
- Assist in developing, managing and monitoring budgets as well as financial plans to ensure profitability
- Monitor revenue and expenses
- Oversee inventory and procurement
- Implement cost control measures and ensure adherence to financial targets.
- Analyze financial reports and provide regular updates to the directors on the hotel’s performance.
Guest Experience:
- Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction and experience while maintaining high service levels
- Resolve guest complaints and issues promptly and professionally
- Implement guest service initiatives and monitor performance through reviews and guest feedback platforms.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, Business Administration or equivalent. Professional certifications and significant leadership experience in the hospitality industry will also be an added advantage.
- Atleast 8 years proven experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 3 in senior management or similar leadership role in Hotel Management
- Proven experience in starting or assisting with the setup of a new hotel or hospitality project.
- Financial acumen, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions as well as guest services
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on mentality, ability to “connect the dots” and willingness to "wear many hats"
- Familiarity with PMS, POS, and reservation systems
