    Stakeholder Engagement, Senior Manager

    Key Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Oversee, lead and execute, organization's engagement in Africa region with all stakeholders, including governments, and senior officials, academic, business and legal communities, and non-commercial interests.
    • Facilitate engagement in Eastern, Southern Africa & Indian Ocean countries on the Coalition for Digital Africa program, in collaboration with the Coalition Secretariat and other ICANN org staff.
    • Monitor, identify and analyze Internet related developments, public policy issues and trends, and impact on strategy in Africa region, and translate into practical plans.
    • Develop organizations work in region, including internal coordination and external partnerships.
    • Analyze local and regional developments and create reports and communications such as position papers and reports to communicate ICANN's global strategy.
    • Engage in regional and international Internet governance dialogues, including strategy to address issues affecting organization.
    • Work in partnership with appropriate internal organizations to develop and carry out educational and outreach activities.
    • Support a disciplined communications and reporting system between the regions and the organization on issues and events relevant to ICANN's responsibilities.
    • Negotiate effectively and influence resolution on issues in an environment with conflicting stakeholder views.
    • Provide internal counsel and input on issues relevant to the region.
    • Seek internal alignment on issues relevant for regional success.
    • Empower regional stakeholders to become active participants in the !CANN community.
    • Maintain favorable relations with the regional media, shareholders, employees and the general public.
    • Serve as spokesperson for the organization in this specific region, maintain area expertise and prepare and give speeches, reports, briefs, presentations and media releases.
    • Maintain and expand network of all stakeholders in the region, including governments, internet industry, and media and communications professionals.
    • Strengthen stakeholder engagement and participation, specifically government, business, technical and civil society.
    • Engage with regional and international intergovernmental forums.
    • Direct organizations policies and objectives in the region.
    • Serves as a focal contact for projects related to the Coalition for Digital Africa program.
    • namely the DNSSEC roadshows; the support to African association of parliamentarians and the Universal Acceptance project for business and public sectors in the Eastern, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region.
    • Represents ICANN’s vision in the Coalition projects being deployed in Eastern, Southern and Africa and Indian Ocean countries.
    • Participate in project teams of the relevant projects under the Coalition programme.
    • Attend and contribute to the Coalition programme team.
    • Contribute to reporting on the Coalition programme.
    • Identify public policy influences, political issues, trends, that impact organizations work.
    • Identify and implement improvements for organization's global work in region.
    • Other duties as assigned or requested by the manager.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

    • Knowledge of the internet, Domain Name System and common related issues required.
    • Proven ability to communicate complex and often controversial information, concepts, policies and positions, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external audiences.
    • Ability to work in a global environment with strong awareness and ability towards engaging with all cultures and interests.
    • Ability to work in globally distributed organization.
    • Ability to work with highly diverse workforce.
    • Able to work independently (self motivated).
    • Must have excellent communication skills.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree required, Study in International Relations, Policy, Law, International Business and/or an appropriate technical fields desired.
    • Minimum six (6) years of experience working in an international legal, governmental and/or multi-stakeholder environment.
    • Prior experience at senior level in government preferred.
    • Prior international experience strongly preferred.

    Language

    • Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required.
    • Ability to read and write and converse in at least one of the languages of the region other than English at a level sufficient to conduct job-related business transactions required.
    • Fluent written and spoken language skills in any of the other official United Nations languages is strongly preferred.
