    Overall Purpose of the Job

    The position holder will be responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of grants.

    Specific Duties

    The successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Create new projects in the institutional financial systems.
    • Review and approve project expenses, ensuring proper classification and adherence to the approved budget.
    • Provide guidance and advice on financial management to research departments.
    • Support and guide project teams in monitoring the budget, analysing project financial performance, interpreting financial reports, and identifying and evaluating new financial strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with icipe financial policies and donor requirements in the implementation of projects.
    • Prepare financial reports in conformity with donor requirements and submit them in a timely manner.
    • Support initiatives towards enhancing financial management processes for improved service delivery and performance.
    • Facilitate periodic project audits.
    • Provide financial oversight to icipe country offices.
    • Support country office heads in budget preparation.
    • Ensure that financial and administrative procedures are in place, and that they comply with icipe standards.
    • Ensure that internal controls are established and applied consistently.
    • Review country office financial reports for completeness and accuracy.
    • Regularly review partner financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related subject.
    • Professional accountancy qualifications (CPA, ACCA or equivalent membership of an internationally recognised professional accounting institute).
    • At least three years of post-professional experience in project accounting
