Key Responsibilities
This role will report to the General Counsel based in the Washington, D.C area but will support teammates across all of IDinsight’s offices around the world (India, Kenya, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, United States, and Zambia). The Project Manager, Legal and Compliance will be responsible for the following workstreams:
Leading IDinsight’s Data Security Efforts
- Leading IDinsight’s privacy impact assessment across all IDinsight subsidiaries
- Determining what efforts are required to be compliant in said locations (e.g. registration, training, etc.)
- Owning IDinsight’s data retention policy, updating on an annual basis, and ensuring internal processes meet the necessary requirements
Coordinating IDinsight’s Global Compliance Workstreams
- Coordinating a global compliance team based on ongoing legal audits for each subsidiary
- Coordinating compliance assessments, identifying gaps in compliance efforts, determining necessary actions to address gaps, and tracking remediation
Developing IDinsight’s Subsidiary Governance Practices
- Leading a global policy review team to ensure all IDinsight subsidiaries are meeting policy requirements according to local laws and global policy
- Coordinating governance reporting for each IDinsight subsidiary
Other Legal and Compliance Projects
- Leading other legal and compliance projects and initiatives as they arrive to build consensus and meet stated objectives
- Driving standardization of legal compliance activities and initiatives to provide efficient and effective service to IDinsight project teams and leadership teams
- Developing a continuous improvement approach to supporting all internal and external constituencies to further improve legal and compliance efforts across the organization
Qualifications
The right candidate must be intellectually curious, a fast learner, and able to move quickly while keeping focused on what matters most. This role requires excellent customer service skills and a keen appreciation for the sensitivity and confidentiality of the work. We are looking for a hardworking and self-motivated individual and someone who is able to see the big picture and incorporate problem solving, critical thinking and tactical execution into their daily work. We expect an ideal candidate to have the following qualifications.:
- 3-6 years of professional experience in a people operations, legal, compliance, human resources, international-development role or any role with experience managing regulatory and compliance matters
- Detail- and execution- oriented, able to take a task from high-level strategic idea to rapid execution with a large amount of autonomy and conscientiousness;
- Demonstrated track record as a self-starter and leader, including comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments and work streams;
- Strong communicator in multiple fora (written communications, public speaking, teamwork and upward management);
- Strong ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality in complex situations, and handle sensitive information, data, and issues with mature and discreet professionalism;
- Professional certifications or equivalent experience working in Privacy, Project Management, or Information Governance (or related fields) is a plus;
- Expertise in project management software, office tools (Microsoft Office, G Suite), business intelligence/visualization applications, and collaboration tools;
- Experience working with international, cross-cultural, and diverse teams.
