    In-country Researcher

    Indicative Roles And Responsibilities

    • Coordinates and supports the management of day-to-day activities of the evaluation, including identifying key stakeholders and scheduling interviews and focus group discussions;
    • Provides technical input to evaluation designs and data collection instruments;
    • Obtains local permissions for research as needed;
    • Collaborates with Abt home office team members in conducting key informant interviews and focus group discussions, including travel within-country as needed;
    • May provide translation between English and local languages during interviews and focus group discussions, if needed;
    • Gathers secondary data from sources such as cooperatives, apex organizations, and government agencies as required;
    • Assists with interpretation of findings and contributes to the development of evaluation deliverables.
       

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in in a relevant subject area is required, Master’s degree is preferred;
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in research and evaluation in relevant sectors;
    • Technical expertise and experience in cooperative and/or credit union development in the agriculture, dairy, health, finance, energy, and/or information technology sectors;
    • Experience with qualitative data collection (quantitative experience would also be a plus);
    • Experience with participatory data collection methods is desirable;
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
    • Part-time availability of approximately 25-30 days over the next 12 months (data collection is likely to take place between November 2022-February 2023);
    • Fluency in English and in one or more local languages is required.
