Intern, Backend Developer at Microfundit Co

We are seeking an Intern, back-end web developer to join our web application development team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the server-side operation and functionality of the progressive web application. Your main tasks will include developing and maintaining our database layer, APIs, and other web services. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in modern programming languages such as Java, Ruby, and Python.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Be proficient in server-side development and optimization of data, including database creation, management and debugging
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Create and maintain software documentation
• Create user-friendly and intuitive interfaces
• Create and analyze reliable and secure back-end functionality
• Maintain, expand, and scale our web application
• Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
• Collaborate with front-end developers and web designers to match visual design intent

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science in computer science, software engineering, programming, or equivalent (final year students will also be considered)
• Proficiency with languages such as Java, Ruby, PHP, MySQL, SQL, and Python
• Experience creating and running web APIs;
• Experience with databases;
• Experience with cloud-based applications;
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Experience deployment/management/troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap
• Understanding of object-oriented programming
• Experience with the design and implementation of APIs
• Understanding of code versioning tools such as SVN, Git, and Mercurial
• Excellent time-management and communication skills
