    Intern, Digital Development & Channels

    Job Purpose

    The Intern will support the Digital Development & Channels team in providing first-level application support, assisting with ongoing digital projects, application testing, documentation, monitoring, and day-to-day operational activities.

    The role is designed to provide additional operational and project support to the team, improve first-level support coverage, and provide an opportunity for the intern to gain practical experience in enterprise digital banking applications, system integrations, application testing, and IT operations.

    The ideal candidate is technically inclined, proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in Digital Banking, Software Development, Application Support, and Technology.

    Key Responsibilities

    Digital Application First-Level Support

    • Provide first-level support for digital banking applications and channels.
    • Monitor digital applications and assist in identifying application-related issues.
    • Perform initial investigation and troubleshooting of reported incidents.
    • Review application logs and basic system information to identify potential issues.
    • Record, track, and follow up on incidents until resolution or escalation.
    • Escalate unresolved technical issues to the relevant development, infrastructure, network, security, or vendor teams.
    • Perform basic application health checks and service availability checks.
    • Support daily operational activities for digital channels.
    • Assist in monitoring digital transactions and identifying unusual failures or service interruptions.

    Project and Development Support

    • Support the Digital Channels and Developments team in ongoing projects and initiatives.
    • Assist in application testing, functional testing, regression testing, and UAT activities.
    • Prepare and execute basic test cases based on defined requirements.
    • Document test results and report identified defects to the relevant teams.
    • Assist with API testing and validation using tools such as Postman.
    • Support project teams during implementation, deployment, and post-deployment validation.
    • Assist in preparing project documentation, implementation checklists, and status updates.
    • Participate in project meetings and follow up on assigned technical and operational actions.
    • Assist with data validation and basic SQL queries where required.

    Application Monitoring and Technical Support

    • Assist in monitoring application interfaces and integrations with internal and external systems.
    • Support investigation of API, connectivity, and integration-related issues.
    • Review application logs and identify common error patterns.
    • Assist in validating application connectivity to dependent systems.
    • Support routine checks of application services and integrations.
    • Assist senior team members in troubleshooting production and UAT issues.
    • Maintain records of recurring issues and their resolutions.

    Documentation and Knowledge Management

    • Maintain application support and operational documentation.
    • Document common issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
    • Assist in preparing user guides, technical checklists, and support procedures.
    • Maintain project and testing documentation.
    • Assist in maintaining a knowledge base for first-level application support.
    • Ensure support activities and identified issues are properly documented.

    Key Expected Outcomes

    • Improved first-level support coverage for digital applications.
    • Faster identification and escalation of application incidents.
    • Additional support capacity for digital projects and UAT activities.
    • Improved documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
    • Reduced dependency on a limited number of resources for routine support activities.
    • Better segregation between first-level operational support and development/project activities.
    • Additional resource capacity to support the growing number of digital banking initiatives and reduce workload pressure on existing team members.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for this Role

    • Bachelor's degree in IT or Computer Science from a reputable university
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented programming concepts.
    • Basic knowledge of Python and scripting for automation or data processing.
    • Good understanding of SQL and relational databases, with exposure to:
    • Oracle Database
    • MySQL
    • Writing SELECT, JOIN, INSERT, UPDATE, and basic analytical queries.
    • Basic understanding of database tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
    • Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, request/response structures, and API integration.
    • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
    • Knowledge of JavaScript and basic web application development.
    • Knowledge of front-end technologies including: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Angular
    • Basic understanding of Java application servers and web containers, including: Apache Tomcat, Oracle WebLogic Server
    • Basic understanding of application deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in application server environments.
    • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems and basic command-line operations.
    • Basic understanding of application logs and ability to perform initial troubleshooting based on log messages.
    • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, UAT, defect management, and deployment processes.
    • Basic understanding of system integration, APIs, middleware, and communication between enterprise applications.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues systematically.
    • Good communication skills and ability to work with developers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business users.
    • Willingness to learn enterprise technologies and gain practical experience in Digital Banking, Application Development, Integration, and Production Support.
    • Ability to document technical findings, test results, issues, and troubleshooting steps clearly.

    Technical Exposure – Preferred

    • Backend: Java, Python
    • Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular
    • Database: Oracle, MySQL, SQL
    • Application Servers: Tomcat, WebLogic
    • Integration: REST APIs, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, Postman
    • Operating Systems: Linux/Unix, Windows
    • Development Tools: Git, IDEs, command-line tools
    • Support: Application logs, troubleshooting, monitoring, UAT and deployment support
