Duties and Responsibilities

1. updating the irrigation water users’ associations inventory;
2. collecting and compiling data for irrigation planning;
3. identifying and compiling inventory on relevant stakeholders in irrigation water management;
4. promoting appropriate irrigation water management technologies; and
5. Preparing training materials and disseminating information on irrigation water management.
6. Organizing farmers meetings for irrigation participatory development
7. Implementing irrigation action plans
8. Undertaking feasibility studies and preliminary investigations
9. Training farmers on irrigation development technologies and environmental management
10. Designing and supervising construction of irrigation infrastructure
11. Preparing irrigation schemes operation and maintenance schedules
12. Preparation of work plans and budgets
13. Compilation of periodic reports

Requirements for appointment

1. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in a field of Agricultural Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
2. Must be registered as a graduate Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
3. Must be in possession of current certificate of good standing from Engineers Board of Kenya
4. At least two (2) years of relevant work experience
5. Must have certification in CAD applications.
6. Certificate in computer applications.
7. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
